WILLIAM C. DIETZ (1945 – 2026)

Remembering William C. Dietz, author of Halo: Combat Evolved.

William C. Dietz (1945 – 2026) was an American science fiction writer who's body of work mostly consisted of military science fiction novels and the novelization of video games.


"Dietz grew up in the Seattle area, spent time with the Navy and Marine Corps as a medic, graduated from the University of Washington, lived in Africa for half a year, and has traveled to six continents. Dietz has been employed as a surgical technician, college instructor, news writer, television producer and Director of Public Relations and Marketing for an international telephone company." (*)


Mr. Dietz was a New York Times bestselling author who published more than sixty novels.


His 2003 book, Halo: The Flood, was a novelization of Halo: Combat Evolved and gave fans a different perspective of the Master Chief's experience on the Installation 04 aka Alpha Halo.


Mr. Dietz wrote books for other poplar games such as Mass Effect, Hitman, and StarCraft.
